Import your Canva designs into the media library, and round-trip edits
What it does
Link your Canva account and you can browse, search, and import your designs from inside Nimply — each import lands in the media library as a ready-to-post image. Imported assets remember where they came from, so you can jump back to Canva to edit and pull the new version with one click.
Connect
The connection is personal: each team member links their own Canva account and sees their own designs.
- Go to Settings → Integrations → Canva and click Connect Canva (any role except viewer).
- Approve on Canva's consent screen — Nimply requests read-only access (list designs, export them). Your designs are never modified.
- Done — Canva now appears as a source in the media import button.
Import a design
- In the media library, the
/mediapage, or the post composer, open the import-source button and pick Canva. - Search or browse your designs and click one — Nimply exports it as PNG and imports it.
- Multi-page designs become one image per page (up to 10 pages per import) — handy for carousels.
Edit in Canva & re-import
On an imported asset's page you'll find two extra actions:
- Edit in Canva — opens the original design in Canva's editor. When you're done, Canva's "Return to Nimply" button brings you straight back to the asset.
- Re-import latest — pulls the design's current version as a new asset. The original is untouched, so posts already using it keep rendering exactly what was approved; swap the new version in wherever you want it.
Troubleshooting
- "Your Canva connection expired" — reconnect from Settings → Integrations → Canva. This happens if access was revoked on Canva's side or the connection sat unused past its refresh window.
- Export fails for a design — very large or unusual designs can time out; try again, or export manually from Canva and upload.
- Disconnecting — removes Nimply's access to your Canva account; already-imported assets stay in the media library.
